7 tests to prove the superiority of eScan

One of the frequent questions asked by technical experts to us is, "How do we evaluate eScan? How can you prove that your software (eScan) can do what others cannot do?"

This document will help evaluators feel the power of eScan.

PRE - REQUIREMENT:
  • Install eScan on your machine.
  • Re-boot your machine (recommended).

TEST 1:
1. Create a file called KAK.HTA (using the command NOTEPAD C:\KAK.HTA).
2. Type a single line CreateObject() and save the file.

To buy this product please write an e-mail to sales@msspl.co.in

Now using Outlook Express or Netscape or Eudora or any other email-client, send an e-mail with C:\KAK.HTA as an attachment. eScan will immediately catch this Hypertext Attachment.

Try the above with any other software and they are bound to fail.

TEST 2:
Assume you have a POP3-account "test" with password called "test", on a host mycompany.com. Access this account using telnet (telnet mycompany.com 110) and access this account (using USER <username>, PASS <password> and RETR <messagenumber> commands).

Check the eScan Log files & you will find that the message you retrieved using TELNET was scanned by eScan!.

Try TEST 2 with any other software and you will find that they DO NOT scan your emails.

TEST 3:

Create a content-filter inside eScan. To do this:
1. Right click on the green 'e' icon;.
2. Click on "Start eScan content administrator";.
3. Click on the "Admin Menu" & Select "eMail Content Scanning";.
4. Click on "Enable Content Checking";.
5. Type a phrase "XXX" and click on Add.
6. Click on Save.
7. Close eScan Content-Administrator window.

Now using Outlook Express or Netscape or Eudora or any other email-client, send an e-mail, typing "XXX" in the body of the message. eScan will immediately quarantine this e-mail.

Try the above with any other software and they are bound to fail.

TEST 4:
Create an uncompression-filter inside eScan. To do this:

1. Right click on the green 'e' icon;.
2. Click on "Start eScan content administrator";.
3. Click on the "Admin Menu" & Select "eMail Attachment Control";.
4. Under "Configure Compression/Decompression" Frame;.
5. Click on "Uncompress inbound attachments".
6. Click on Save .
7. Close eScan Content-Administrator window.

Now send yourself an email with a ZIP file attachment from any of your free email accounts (like hotmail, yahoo, etc.)

Download this email inside your Outlook Express or Eudora. And you will find your ZIP file automatically unzipped when it reaches your inbox.

Try this with any other software and they are bound to fail.

Observation : Since the eScan File Rights feature is active on the remote system, eScan does not allow you to create this file.

OR

Open the Autoexec.bat on the remote machine and Please enter some extra lines/entries and try to save the file, it would not allow you to save the contents you've typed while eScan File Rights is enabled on the remote system.
